I don’t know about you, but I am becoming a pro at concentrating on what is good, while so much around us is dire. Maybe gathering the strength for something momentous? Maybe. Maybe just trying not to take myself so seriously. Work again this weekend but not too much. Thinking of trying a new Indian restaurant on Sunday. You?

Yes. The weekend again! One I can enjoy in full, assuming the plumber restores water to my abode. I have a long hike planned, and a peek into a Trisha Brown performance on Sunday. To satisfy both the bucolic and the city girls who reside in me. My week was punctuated by a few chuckles here and there and some mindless tv enjoyed in my pjs (having a proper excuse for not washing). I am passing it all along.
On the downside, it might rain again this weekend. On the upside, my garden looks more like Hawaii than the desert it’s supposed to be, and it’s Oscar night on Sunday. That merits a cocktail, a quiche and a long stay on the sofa critiquing clothes. Numbers 1, 4 and 5 are compliments of sofagirl who might not be present on these pages anymore but is very much present in my inbox and, by extension, today, in yours.
According to most of my American friends, the world is heading towards a period of gloom and doom. Time for some heroes. Not of the super variety – just ordinary people capable of extraordinary acts of love. If it all looks a bit like a giant reading assignment, just pick what resonates. I also threw in a heart-warming video (no dogs, I promise) and a yoga idea.
I am smelling Valentine’s day already. Cards, chocolates and useless gifts are upon us. I will be avoiding restaurants like the plague and just celebrate at home with a home-made dinner for four this year. Truly surrounded by people (and animals) I love. Wishing you a festive one, whether it’s a walk at sunset with your pooch or binge watching Netflix with your best friend. Just make your Tuesday fun.
