(5) Things we love…#133

Posted in Things We Love

At my end, it was an excruciatingly long and busy week – one that is not over yet. The flip side of it is that work takes my mind off the seemingly constitutional crisis my country appears to be in. Absolute madness. Here is a mixed bag of things that attracted my attention, a couple of them supplied by sofagirl. Counting down the days to my vacation….If you are a mother, have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

One. I wrote about most of it, in bits and pieces, while I was going through breast cancer treatment. But here is a handy-dandy article on everything you can do to lower your risks.

Two. Pharrell Williams’ moving reaction to listening to an unknown musician’s piece for the first time, during a masterclass at the Clive Davis Institute – in his advice, there is something for everybody doing art across any medium.

Three. Lacking a view from your bedroom? How about pretending to be atop a skyscraper in a big city?

Four. What if you could turn all weapons into art? A Syrian artist does just that.

Five. I still see spaghetti served with a spoon alongside a fork – between anathema and plainly hilarious to any Italian. But did you know that watching Neapolitans eat spaghetti used to be a tourist attraction?

  1. Non commento gli spaghetti … ma che belle le tende! E grazie per i consigli 🙂

  2. No spoon: you twirl the spaghetti around a fork, on the plate. Not sure why people find it so hard but maybe it’s like chopsticks – if you have been doing it since you were a kid, it’s just second nature.

  3. Thanks for posting the clip with Pharrell. That’s truly wonderful.

  4. Number four blew me away. Beautiful stuff! And such a great way to turn things around.

Okay, I have to ask about number five: no spoon?! Please tell me it’s not supposed to be a fork (I hate the notion of cutting spaghetti).
