(5) Things we like…#51

Posted in Life & Love, Relationships, and Things We Love

plant-1Been a long week with one thing and another. I got a lot done and some things came undone. But that’s the way it goes. So today’s post is short and sweet and to celebrate the week that was: I’ve selected five things that represent values that I hold dear.

One: Simplicity:
Czech artist Veronika Richterová creates new life polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. She cuts, heats and manipulates them to build colourful, translucent pieces of art. Everything from crocodiles through chandeliers to plants. Inspired and inspiring. Photos by Michal Cihlář

Two: Grace:
This is an advert for OPI nail varnish. But it is more than that – this is a beautiful art film, with wonderful dancing. And a proud, graceful, smart horse.

Three: Fairness
This brilliant social experiment was created by the non-profit Fashion Revolution. They wanted shoppers to reconsider how they source their clothes, so they loaded this vending machine with more than just cheap t-shirts. The shopper’s interaction takes them to information about unsafe conditions and the use of underage children as the workforce in clothing factories. Nobody took the two Euro t-shirt. Four: Peace
“You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes each day. Unless you are too busy, then you should sit for an hour.” An old Zen koan. And something I know is true, but somehow never find the time for. Then I saw this brilliant 60 second meditation by Pixel Thoughts. Try it here, it works.

Thumbs up for the opi film and the 60 seconds meditation. Which takes me to the question glass or lake?

  3. When I saw that first photo of the cacti, I thought “that looks amazing”. I was so surprised when I read they’re made from plastic bottles!

And the Fashion Revolution experiment – such a great idea for raising money and awareness
