Things I (re)learned about my sofa self this year.

Posted in About Us, Life & Love, and Relationships

  1. My take on people and situations is mostly right. I’m no genius – I’ve just been around the block and stored the lessons.
  2. These days I listen to myself, I often make sense
  3. There is always a Musa. Musa is the guy who will point out that millions are homeless and that you are to blame because you are white. He will tell you this while you are buttering bread, trying to feed the hungry. Ignore Musa.
  4. Apartheid has tainted us forever. Race is a constant burr. I have no idea how to handle that. I am open to suggestions from Musa.
  5. Wait and see saves time. I don’t rush to do things/get answers/solve situations anymore.
  6. The people we least expect to, have the biggest impact on our lives.
  7. I have been wise in the friends I have kept. They are made of good stuff.
  8. I bring my part. If I tell you I will do something, I will. I expect the same from you.
  9. I care about fewer people. It’s the only way to stay sane.
  10. Dogs are a joy. Children are a wonder. Lucky me to know both.
  11. I enjoy solitude.

  1. I’m beginning to learn the value of wait and see too: taking my time to make decisions instead of rushing to give people answers right away. If people value your opinion, they will wait.
