Public Displays of Affection

Posted in Things We Love

“Neon shines through smokey eyes tonight.
It’s 2 AM, I’m drunk again, It’s heavy on my mind…
Excuse me please, one more drink. Could you make it strong cause i don’t need to think”
Dave Matthews

The word neon comes from the Greek “neos,” meaning “the new gas.” And today I am feeling like I could do with a little new.  And a little gas in my happy tank.  I love neon – there is something secret and promising about it .. like a headline from your thoughts.  The first neon signs were erected in Los Angeles, outside a Packard Car Dealership – drawing people from all over the city to come and see this “liquid fire”.

I love how Olivia Steele has given her neon an unexpected, graffitti feel – bringing longing love and whimsy to the streets of London.
